Historic Chino Valley Creamery Lives Again in New Town Center Mural

A new community art series has begun at Town Center at The Preserve, with its first mural showcasing an important piece of local history. The large mural, created by Chaffey College students under the direction of Professor Chris Truman, features the historic Chino Valley Creamery Association building.

The mural uses a simple yet powerful line art style to show the old creamery building against a colored background that matches the City of Chino’s official colors. To create such detailed work, the students used modern technology, projecting the image onto the wall before carefully painting each line.

This project is part of the City of Chino’s plan to bring more public art to new developments. Lewis Retail Centers worked with Chaffey College and the City to make this happen. Though the team faced some challenges with weather and needed time for historical research, they completed the mural successfully. This sets the tone for two more murals planned over the next two years.

The mural does more than decorate Town Center at The Preserve – it helps tell the story of Chino’s farming and dairy past. As part of The Preserve master-planned community, the artwork connects today’s residents with the area’s history.

The team recorded the entire process on video to share the story of how this community art project came together. This video captures both the artwork’s creation and the teamwork that made it possible.
